The Shanghai Municipal People’s Congress and the Shanghai Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), collectively known as the "Two Sessions," concluded on January 14 and 15, 2023. Zheng Chunying, Chairman of JALA Group, was re-elected as a Standing Committee Member of the 14th Shanghai Municipal CPPCC, while Dr. Chen Juanling, General Manager of Public Relations and Communications at JALA Group, was newly elected as a Deputy to the 16th Shanghai Municipal People’s Congress.

Zheng Chunying remarked, "The report deeply resonated with me. It highlighted the extraordinary five years of Shanghai’s development, during which the CPPCC actively contributed to high-quality growth, improved livelihoods, and efficient governance through high-level reform and opening-up. Since founding JALA in Shanghai in 2001 and being elected to the 13th CPPCC Standing Committee in 2018, I have been nurtured by the organization. Over these years, both the company and I have significantly elevated our vision, political awareness, and social standing. I have strived to excel in three areas: aligning with the central authorities on major issues, guiding employees and influencing the industry positively; staying true to our mission by focusing on industrial development for 21 years; and leading the company in fulfilling social responsibilities, including pandemic relief efforts over the past three years."
Over the past five years, Zheng submitted 18 proposals and 24 public opinion reports. Two of his proposals received written endorsements from Li Qiang, then Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Committee, significantly advancing the cosmetics industry and the development of the "Oriental Beauty Valley."
Dr. Chen Juanling stated, "As a corporate representative and a professional in China’s cosmetics industry, we must accurately grasp emerging consumption trends, identify new growth drivers, innovate consumption models, and balance domestic and international demand to ensure stable economic development." She emphasized that boosting consumption is vital for high-quality economic growth, improving livelihoods, and advancing Shanghai’s role as an international consumption center.
At the 16th Shanghai Municipal People’s Congress, Dr. Chen actively contributed proposals focusing on four areas: developing the Oriental Beauty Valley’s health and beauty industry, strengthening intellectual property protection for cosmetics companies, stimulating consumption to stabilize the economy, and enhancing Shanghai’s global cultural influence. Her proposals garnered significant media attention.
As representatives of JALA Group at the "Two Sessions," Zheng Chunying and Dr. Chen Juanling will continue to dedicate themselves to advancing Shanghai’s cosmetics and beauty industries through actionable strategies.
