On August 29, 2024, the Space-Borne HiMurchaSin Yeast Strain Handover Ceremony and Joint R&D Project with the State Key Laboratory of Microbial Metabolism at Shanghai Jiao Tong University—co-hosted by CHANDO and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, with special support from the China Space Foundation—was held at the Life Science and Culture Exhibition Hall of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Chinese aerospace authorities officially handed over yeast strain samples, which had traveled in space aboard the Shenzhou-16 spacecraft for 154 days, to Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The samples included the HiMurchaSin® polar yeast strain discovered in the Himalayan region (the "Third Pole") in 2018 through a joint effort by the State Key Laboratory of Microbial Metabolism and CHANDO Group’s R&D Center. The ceremony also marked the official launch of a collaborative research plan for Space Yeast HiMurchaSin®, propelling CHANDO’s recent advancements in "anti-fatigue" yeast skincare technology into the space era.

At the ceremony, Hou Xiufeng, Vice Chairman of the China Space Foundation, elaborated on the impact of space breeding technology and the space environment on the yeast strains. He highlighted that the entry of HiMurchaSin® yeast strains into space marked a groundbreaking exploration, expressing high expectations for their enhanced stress resistance post-spaceflight. Professor Zhao Xinqing from the School of Life Sciences and Biotechnology at Shanghai Jiao Tong University unveiled the achievements of CHANDO’s joint research on microbial space breeding and outlined the next phase of the HiMurchaSin® yeast research project. Jiang Shanshan, Senior Project Manager of CHANDO’s R&D Center, presented CHANDO’s milestones in space skincare research and the application roadmap for space-borne HiMurchaSin. This event marked the first public disclosure of CHANDO’s advancements in aerospace science and microbial strain selection, along with future research and application directions. Jiang emphasized that the CHANDO REJUVENATION REPAIRING ESSENCE (6th Generation)—powered by HiMurchaSin® filtrate and lysate derived from self-developed Himalayan yeast—provides a root-level solution to anti-fatigue aging. CHANDO anticipates that the post-Shenzhou-16 HiMurchaSin yeast will exhibit superior stress resistance and anti-fatigue efficacy.
CHANDO’s Decade-Long Aerospace Research: Challenging Yet Remarkable
As a natural high-tech brand rooted in the Himalayas, CHANDO became a partner of China’s aerospace endeavors in 2013. Over the years, it has deepened collaborations with the China Space Foundation and the State Key Laboratory of Microbial Metabolism at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, initiating projects such as Himalayan Rare Plant Space Breeding and Himalayan Microbial Space Selection. These efforts have also led to the development of skincare, cleansing, and cosmetic products tailored for in-orbit living.

Successful Handover Ceremony Propels CHANDO’s Space Skincare into a New Era
HiMurchaSin® originates from the Himalayas, the "Third Pole" of the Earth. CHANDO’s R&D team conducted multiple expeditions into the Himalayan hinterland, isolating 558 microbial strains through gene sequencing and establishing a Himalayan Microbial Strain Bank. From this repository, they identified the HiMurchaSin® yeast strain, which exhibits exceptional stress resistance in extreme environments. Compared to lab-cultured yeast, HiMurchaSin® fermentation yields richer beneficial compounds, stronger cellular renewal capabilities, and superior anti-aging efficacy.
Unstoppable Space Research: CHANDO Leads the New Era of Skincare
The CHANDO REJUVENATION REPAIRING ESSENCE (6th Generation), featuring HiMurchaSin® as its core ingredient, consistently tops national skincare rankings. On July 19, 2024, CHANDO co-hosted the "2024 China Women’s Anti-Fatigue Aging Technology Forum" with the Human Skin Health Committee of the Shanghai Anthropological Society and experts from Fudan University. The forum unveiled China’s trends in premature aging and the causes of fatigue-induced aging. CHANDO also debuted its breakthrough "anti-fatigue aging" technology—HiMurchaSin® filtrate and lysate—introducing a cell-level renewal concept and root-cause solutions. This innovation culminated in the launch of CHANDO’s first anti-fatigue serum: the REJUVENATION REPAIRING ESSENCE (6th Generation).
Whether it is the HiMurchaSin® filtrate and lysate in the REJUVENATION REPAIRING ESSENCE (6th Generation) or the aerospace-enhanced HiMurchaSin® yeast, CHANDO remains committed to addressing genuine skincare concerns through scientifically validated ingredients and efficacy. This dedication is the driving force behind CHANDO’s persistent pursuit of aerospace research.
